Laurenston (Bear Meets Girl) and Eden (Angel Betrayed) deliver spicy novellas featuring werewolves. In “Like a Wolf with a Bone,” Laurenston revisits the setting of her Pride series, turning the clock back to 1974 to chronicle the meeting of pastry chef Darla Mae Lewis and soldier Egbert Ray Smith. When Eggie rescues Darla from a murder attempt and takes her home, sparks fly even as their families squabble. The instant chemistry, sizzling bedroom scenes, and frequent bursts of humor make up for the slim plot. In Eden’s “Wed or Dead,” Kayla Kincaid, a hunter, marries Gage Riley, a werewolf, in a quick Vegas ceremony. What should be an assignment to get close enough to the alpha wolf to kill him turns messy when Kayla falls for Gage, and her former team comes after them both. The strong characters and a fast-paced story punctuated with intense sexual encounters make this a satisfying offering.
