Meg is newly arrived in New York after moving for her husband's career, which has left her jobless and overwhelmed by the prospect of raising two kids in a new city. Without a lot of options, she takes a job in marketing at a startup aiming to sell CBD bath bombs to the mommy crowd, and she knows just who to get to promote it--momfluencer Daphne Cole, whom she met by chance. Daphne takes Meg under her wing, and before long, Meg is swept up into Daphne's glamorous world. Daphne presses Meg to start a career as an influencer, but the more Meg puts her life online the more she feels pressure to be something she isn't--or doesn't feel like, anyway--until she has to decide what parts of her life and relationships are sustainable. Fast paced and gossipy, Mollen's fiction debut (after several essay collections) is a cautionary tale, a funny but unsettling indictment of influencer culture, and currently in development for a TV series.
